“When it gets down to having to use violence, then you are playing the system’s game. The establishment will irritate you – pull your beard, flick your face – to make you fight. Because once they’ve got you violent, then they know how to handle you. The only thing they don’t know how to handle is non-violence and humor.”
— John Lennon
Falsehoods (and hyperbolic rhetoric) delegitimize pretty much every cause.
It’s simply not true that as wages go up, jobs go down. In fact as wages go up the number of jobs goes up too to provide the products and services to a powerful and enabled middle class with disposal income.
Think of it as Bubbling Up Economics.
“Sometimes people hold a core belief that is very strong. When they are presented with evidence that works against that belief, the new evidence cannot be accepted. It would create a feeling that is extremely uncomfortable, called cognitive dissonance. And because it is so important to protect the core belief, they will rationalize, ignore and even deny anything that doesn’t fit in with the core belief.”
