I don’t know if this is from his book but I suspect it is. The quote is Miyamoto Musashi, the author of The Book of Five Rings a great book on strategy, tactics, and philosophy. Just the other week I found my old paperback copy of the book that I read traveling the NYC subways back in 1982-83 (the original is circa 1645) and put it back on my home office bookshelves. I know the date because the bookmark in it was my receipt from the GCT bookstore that was where a Zaro’s Family Bakery is now. Interestingly the subtile on my little paperback edition is “The Real Art of Japanese Management”.

“Truth is not what you want it to be; it is what it is, and you must bend to its power or live a lie.” —Miyamoto Musashi.
