I am one of the “radicals” who happens to think in all probability Jesus Christ the historical figure never really existed and he like many other figures in history are just myths.
I think there is more evidence for a real John Henry than there is a real Jesus Christ. There is more evidence for a real King Arthur than there is a real Jesus Christ.
Paraphrasing the Earl Doherty, “the historical Jesus did not exist. Or if he did, he had virtually nothing to do with the founding of Christianity.”Earl Doherty, “the historical Jesus did not exist. Or if he did, he had virtually nothing to do with the founding of Christianity.” Jesus the name and Jesus like figures were commonplace 2000 years ago so given that crucification was a commonplace sentence in the ancient Roman Empire it is almost certain that at sometime somewhere a person named Jesus was crucified if not many times and in many places.
Yeah this Jesus Mythicism is rejected as a fringe theory by virtually all Biblical Scholars of antiquity but if you were to ask all the Quranic scholars “Did the prophet Mohamed asscended into heaven with the Archangel Gabriel riding on a mount called Burak and he was elevated through seven levels of Heaven where he met seven former prophets; Adam, Jesus, Joseph, Enoch, Aaron, Moses, and Abraham, one at each level respectively” they would all say that was a real historical event. If you ask all Biblical Scholars who don’t have a religious connection to their scholarship was Jesus a real historical person the answer to the question isn’t so certain.
