The other day an old friend stopped by in the course of one of those catching up conversations I discovered that this old friend in addition to believing in various conspiracy theories around Big Pharma, the Monsanto/GMO Manufactroversy etc. he also believes in the mother-of-all-ridiculous conspiracy theories,…The 9/11 Truth Movement.

In other words he thinks that the Bush/Chenny administration intentionally orchestrated the 9/11 attacks and brought down the Twin Towers in a controlled demolition so that they could get what they wanted, which I guess was the war in Afganistan and Iraq. After arguing against so many of his points specifically (as an ex-firefighter and an ex-builder who knows a little bit about both areas) I pointed out the sheer stupid ridiculousness absurdity of the of the “truther” premise in terms of Bayesian Probabilities.

Following Michael Shermer who is the editor of Skeptic Magazine and the author of Why People Believe Weird Things: Pseudo-Science, Superstition, and Bogus Notions of Our Time I just discovered this great video this morning: Skeptic Presents: You Can’t Handle The Truther – YouTube which I think takes that Bayesian Probabilistic look and satirizes the absolute ridiculousness and absurdity of the 9/11 Truther thinking.

Additionally for those of you who aren’t all ready familiar with the great YouTube video series “Mr. Deity” (http://www.mrdeity.com/) the bit is written and produced by Michael Shermer along with Brian Keith Dalton who is “Mr. Deity” himself and he also directs the piece. And the video also features Sean Douglas & Amy Rohren from the “Mr. Deity” acting ensemble.
